Elmer David Wilber, age 70, of Keshena, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 in Green Bay. Elmer was born on December 10, 1948, in Keshena, to the late Martin and Marie (Tucker) Wilber. He graduated from Shawano High School in 1967. Elmer proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a combat veteran serving in Vietnam with the 101 st Airborne. On May 7, 1983, Elmer was united in marriage to Dawn Kinepoway. Elmer worked for the Keshena DNR Forest Control for many years retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Keshena. Elmer was also a member of the Veterans of Menominee Nation and the Keshena American Legion Post #497. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and riding in the woods. Elmer was a family man who loved to watch his grandchildren.
Elmer is survived by: his wife of 36 years, Dawn; his children, Michael (Dylana) Kinepoway and Christopher (Valeria) Wilber; his grandchildren, Savannah, Ahke-Nepowew, Kadence, Angeliese, Christopher, Jr., and Kamea; his siblings, Joylen Whitney, Allen (Pam) Wilber, Warren Wilber, Martina Frechette, Ann Wilber, Renita (Roger) Corn, Richard (Juanita) Wilber, Daryl (Marcene) Wilber, and Lynette Wychesit; brother-in-law, Percy Lawrence; his godchildren, Roger Frechette, Glenda Metoxen, Dawn Turney, Chad Wilber, Sr., Kelsie Wilber, and Wa-Tasa Grignon; as well as nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Martin and Marie; two sisters, Lois Wilber and Loretta Lawrence; one brother, Martin, Jr.; one sister-in-law, Tudy Wilber; one brother-in-law, Richard Frechette; three nephews; and three great-nephews.
A funeral service for Elmer will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, October 19, 2019, at St. Michael Catholic Church with Fr. Joel Jores officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery. With military honors by the Veterans of the Menominee Nation and the Keshena American Legion Post # 497. Visitation will be held beginning at 6pm, on Thursday, October 17, 2019, at Fr. David Barrett Parish Hall, St. Michael Church until the time of service on Saturday.
